About Tanner

I'm an experienced and active working musician, with over 20 years playing guitar and bass in rock bands. I come from a family of professional musicians, and I love helping others develop their musical skills and find their own style and passion. I've worked with, and learned from some big names in the music industry including gold and platinum selling producers and artists. I also completed the electronic music minor program at UCSC, and have developed skills as a producer recording and mixing other bands. I'm looking forward to sharing my knowledge and skills with other people who want to express themselves musically! I specialize in alternative rock and punk styles, but I am well versed in other rock and pop genres as well. If you want to learn classical, jazz, or funk, I am probably not your best option, but I can teach basic skills that will apply to any style!

About the lesson

We can start by evaluating where your skills are currently, and talk about your goals or vision as an artist. I can teach basic skills for beginners, where I emphasize having fun and being creative, while building a solid foundation and working toward precision. I can help more experienced players find gaps in their knowledge, and develop playing, songwriting, and arrangement techniques to serve in live and studio settings. I can help you explore your equipment and tone to get the sound you imagine, or find sounds you haven't considered. We can dive into music theory or history for people who want new ways to conceptualize their playing. I can teach reading music and tabs, and help you with ear training so you can learn or write any song you want!
