About Cein

I’m a BAFTA* winning writer/director and television showrunner with 16 years experience in the industry.

I create ambitious and original scripted comedy series such as TOP COPPERS (Netflix/BBC) as well showrunning major broadcast entertainment shows such as the recent return of the cult phenomenon GAMESMASTER (Channel 4) for which I was responsible for designing and implementing the creative vision in how to successfully revive the legendary show after 23 years.

I was also the director for the latest two series of BBC’s bafta winning children’s comedy series HORRIBLE HISTORIES.

I have a BA honours degree in Scriptwriting for Film & Television and an MA in Television Production from the renowned Bournemouth University Media School, where I have regularly mentored new students since I graduated 15 years ago, so have lots of experience working with aspiring writers and directors.

Whatever stage you're at in your life or career (you're never too old to start!), I will do my best to help you build your confidence and knowledge base. Giving you the tools and know-how so that you can go for it and make it happen.

About the lesson

I offer positive and encouraging 60 minute sessions for aspiring television writers, producers and directors or for anyone curious about a career in TV.

• Maybe you want to write but feel a bit daunted by the industry or don't feel confident.
• Perhaps you have a film/TV series in your head that you would love to make but you just don't know where to start.
• Or you just reeaally want to win an Oscar. No dream is too big, there's no judgement here!

Wherever you're at in your life or career, I really love chatting with passionate and ambitious people.

I like to keep the sessions fluid and based around what you need to get from them, so you get the most out of our time.

I can give you guidance on areas like...

• Breaking into the industry.
• Getting noticed
• Finding your voice as a writer and/or director.
• Going it alone - making stuff on a shoestring budget.
• Pitching your ideas
• Storytelling and structure
• Scriptwriting techniques and the writing process
• Directing styles, the directing process and assembling a vision
• Working with actors
• Feedback on your ideas (you should ALWAYS bounce your ideas off of other writers and directors! That's how they get better)

I can also also offer a script reading service with feedback on your writing.
