About Nora

Nora holds Bachelor's degrees in English and Spanish, and a Master's in Secondary Education. She believes in the power of focused growth, and is dedicated to bringing top quality, individualized tutoring to students of all ages and needs.

Nora got her start as a writing tutor at the University of Missouri, where she worked with students to hone their academic research & writing skills. After graduating, Nora moved to Madrid, Spain to teach English. Whilst in Madrid, Nora taught as a private tutor to many students ages 3-adult. She designed engaging curriculum to suit the specific learning needs of every one of her students, and provided structured plans to help students excel in their studies.

In 2017 Nora began her work as a classroom teacher while completing her Master's in Secondary Education at Portland State University. Nora taught English Language Arts, Spanish and Social Studies to 7th & 8th graders in North Portland.

Nora knows first hand how challenging learning has been for students since March 2020, and has been continuously teaching both in person and online throughout the pandemic. It is her goal to provide individualized attention for all students, especially in light of the past number of months.

About the lesson

Elementary students will receive lessons curated to support their specific needs. Backed by common core standards and using backwards design, tutors will elevate your student's performance using science-based learning techniques and engaging strategies.

High School tutoring focuses on preparing students for graduation and college readiness. Students will be provided rigorous and engaging personalized lessons to hone their skills with a forward-facing focus. Tutors will work with students to set goals, sharpen study habits, and deepen their understanding of concepts and skills.

I have undergone specialty training for tutoring Undergraduate, Master's and Doctoral students on academic writing. We employ Socratic methods to elevate the academic rhetoric of your writing, while guiding you in deepening your analysis. Furthermore, we provide proofreading and final editing for interested students, and those writing in English as a non-native language.
