About Tom

I grew up on the West Coast of Scotland, surrounded by traditional music and began playing the bagpipes at the age of eight, shortly followed by the tin whistle. In my earlier high school years, I competed with the Oban High School pipe band and played with the school's traditional music group. I then attended the National Centre for Excellence in Traditional Music in Plockton from age 14 and later spent a year completing an HNC in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland. I have since moved to Glasgow and have been a part of the rich traditional music scene since, performing and recording with my trio and recording flute and whistle for other artists. I'm motivated to teach and support players of all levels to excel in their chosen areas. Playing music with others is one of my greatest passions, and I aim to share this ability with people in a supportive and encouraging manner. I believe it is important to enjoy the playing of the tutor you learn from. Have a listen to the 'Tom Campbell Trio' and decide whether you would like to learn from me. About the lesson

I will work with you to tailor lessons towards your individual goals. In your first lesson, we'll get to know each other, and I'll learn more about why you want lessons and what you want to learn. I'll help you identify areas of improvement and work together to set some goals for us to progress with throughout our lessons. I can teach complete beginners to learn and progress well with flute or whistle, reaching the ability of their choosing. I can help intermediate players push their playing to higher levels. I can work with advanced players to develop their style and reach their individual goals to achieve their full potential. Example areas of progression: - Repertoire - Tune variations - Arrangement - Ornamentation - Tone/Embouchure - Breathing - Articulation - Style development I can teach from 8 years of age upwards.

Andrea had a great attitude toward learning! She was attentive and focused on improving and absorbing new information throughout the lesson.
