About Diana
Hi! My name is Diana Mary Catherine Allar, I'm a writer and English tutor from Charlotte, North Carolina. I love cats and Language Arts, and I'm currently working on a book. I'm particularly interested in civics and social sciences, but I enjoy teaching grammar and ELA. I am proficient in English and Norwegian, while presently learning Spanish, French, and Arabic. I am calm, level-headed, and professional.

I'm kind, understanding, and patient, but critical. I offer plenty constructive criticism while understanding that we all learn at our own pace. What sets me apart as a tutor is my capacity to acknowledge the complexity of the English language, enough to sufficiently simplify its more byzantine aspects.
I tutor kids between kindergarten and the sixth grade. We will usually start off with a diagnostic test to judge the students' reading and writing levels, and then set our goals based off of that. Using the diagnostic test, we will set short and long term learning goals.
There should usually be about 2-3, 1-hour/2-hour sessions per week. I will be assigning reasonable and manageable homework tasks to reinforce what we discussed in the session.
As the program goes on, we can discuss more about the next steps in the itinerary.
