About Kiara
Teaching piano became my primary focus 13 years ago after graduating from the Oberlin Conservatory. My career spans San Francisco studios where I guide diverse students from college applicants to curious adults.
I teach ear training, hand independence, and jazz improvisation alongside traditional scales. Pedaling technique and sight reading are central pillars of my instruction. I am MTNA fluent and prioritize deep technical accuracy. Precision is my standard.

Student progress stays consistent because I provide weekly practice modules assigned with every class. A typical session involves reviewing pop and contemporary repertoire or dissecting complex music theory concepts.
These exercises bridge the gap between amateur playing and professional performance. My 13 years of experience informs how I structure these tasks. I monitor your pedalling and sight reading during our time together.
