About Vedika

Hi! I’m Vedika, an outgoing and approachable tutor originally from Hong Kong. I was born and raised there before moving to Sydney two years ago, and I am currently studying Dentistry at the University of Sydney.

I’m a very social and friendly person, which I think helps me create a comfortable environment where students feel confident asking questions and making mistakes without feeling judged. At the same time, I know when it’s time to “lock in” and get serious about achieving academic goals!

Having completed the International Baccalaureate with a 44/45 score (equivalent to a 99.7 ATAR), I understand the pressure that comes with challenging academic programs and the importance of having the right support. I also speak four languages, which has helped me communicate with people from a wide range of backgrounds.

About the lesson

My tutoring approach is centred around active learning rather than passive memorisation. I want students to genuinely understand what they are learning, not simply memorise information for a test. I use engaging explanations, real-life examples, questions, discussions, practice activities and memory techniques to make Biology fun, interesting and easier to remember.

My goal is that after every one-hour lesson, students leave feeling more confident and able to explain the concepts themselves. I tailor each lesson to the student’s age, level, learning style and goals, whether they need help building strong foundations, preparing for exams or mastering more advanced university content.

Lessons are typically 1 hour, although I can adapt the length depending on the student’s needs. I have 5 years of tutoring experience and have worked with students across a wide range of ages and abilities, from 5-year-olds through to university students aged 20.

As an international student who completed the International Baccalaureate with a score of 44/45 (equivalent to a 99.7 ATAR) and achieved in the 97th percentile in the UCAT, I understand the demands of challenging academic environments and how to study effectively. My main academic subjects included Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Business, French and English.
