About Preston
I am a physics student with a strong focus on astrophysics and advanced theoretical concepts. Recently, I delivered a talk at the Bath AstroSoc Conference, presenting astrophysics research topics to an audience including Master's and PhD students.
Presenting at this level required not only a deep understanding of the subject matter, but also the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and rigorously, a skill that directly translates into my teaching.
My academic background includes high-level problem solving through the UK Mathematics Trust (UKMT) and recognition in the British Physics Olympiad, reflecting my strong foundation in mathematics and physics. I'm currently studying at The University of Bath for an integrated master's in Physics (MPhys).

My lessons are structured, adaptive, and focused on building genuine understanding rather than memorising methods. I begin by identifying a student’s strengths and weaker areas, then design sessions that target gaps while reinforcing confidence.
I prioritise clear, step-by-step explanations and encourage students to think aloud so I can refine their reasoning in real time. For exam students, we work heavily on technique — understanding mark schemes, avoiding common mistakes, and mastering problem-solving strategies under timed conditions.
For higher-achieving students, I introduce stretch material that develops deeper mathematical and physical intuition beyond the syllabus.
Every lesson ends with clear goals and practice tasks so progress is measurable. My aim is not only improved grades, but independent, structured thinkers who feel confident approaching unfamiliar problems.
