About Jyoti

I am an Assistant Professor of English at the University of Delhi with over 14 years of teaching experience. Over the years, I have taught English language, literature, business communication, public speaking, academic writing, life skills, emotional intelligence, and professional communication to students from diverse backgrounds.

My journey as a teacher has always been guided by one belief: language is not just about correct grammar or impressive vocabulary; it is about finding one’s voice. Many students understand English but hesitate to speak, write, present, or participate because they lack confidence. My role is to help them move from hesitation to expression, from confusion to clarity, and from self-doubt to self-belief.

I have also taught IELTS for two years, helping learners improve their band scores through structured practice, focused strategies, and personalized feedback. I have worked with students who moved from Band 5 to Band 7 and from Band 6 to Band 8 by improving fluency, coherence, grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and writing structure.

What makes my teaching different is the balance of academic depth and human connection. I bring the discipline of a university classroom, the warmth of a mentor, and the practical approach of a communication coach. My classes are interactive, thoughtful, and designed around the learner’s real goals, whether that is scoring better, speaking confidently, writing effectively, preparing for interviews, or becoming a more powerful communicator.

For me, teaching is not just about completing lessons. It is about helping students evolve into confident, articulate, and self-aware individuals who can express themselves with clarity and impact.

About the lesson

As a teacher, I focus on building both language competence and communication confidence. My classes are not based on rote learning; they are designed to help students understand, practice, apply, and improve.

I use a learner-centered method where each class is planned according to the student’s goals. Some learners need grammar clarity, some need fluency, some need IELTS band improvement, while others need help with writing, interviews, presentations, or professional communication. I adapt my method accordingly.

Each class usually begins with a quick assessment or discussion, followed by explanation of the topic, examples, practice exercises, speaking or writing tasks, personalized correction, and improvement tips. For IELTS and exam preparation, I focus on strategies, structure, time management, vocabulary, fluency, coherence, and band-specific feedback.

What makes my teaching different is my ability to combine academic expertise with emotional sensitivity. I understand that many learners know English but hesitate because of fear, self-doubt, or lack of practice. My goal is to help students overcome that hesitation and become clear, confident, and expressive communicators.
