About Jamie
I'm an artist currently practicing gallery curation in Detroit. I started studying art more seriously in 2012, but have been an artist my whole life. Currently, I have an Associate degree and am pursuing a Bachelors from Full Sail University to add creative writing to my experience. I've also taught as a substitute, painting instructor, and student success coach for the last six years. I'm passionate about helping others have their creative voices and visions heard, collaborating with others, and creating community. My artistic work focuses on creating conversations around the importance of mental health and celebrating neurodiversity.

I come to every class with an inspired lesson plan, but am not afraid to be flexible in how to get to the end of the road. I'm very conceptual in nature and will tend to base my plans on a specific phrase or idea and ask students to create what they feel from that topic in whatever media is chosen. While my instruction on how to use the tools are very specific and broken down, my vision is open ended and I love when my students push the boundaries of their creative limitations.
