The Architecture software tools are of varied levels of difficulty. I would charge $30 for a 2D drawing tool like AutoCAD. For the 3D modeling and rendering, the prices go higher depending on the complexity of the software and the schedule required.

  • When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

My interest in architecture began in 10th grade when I read about the construction of Palm Jumeirah-it captivated me and sparked a lasting passion. After 12th grade, I pursued a 5-year architecture degree, where I thrived despite the demanding workload, driven by my love for the field. During college, I also discovered a passion for teaching while helping peers with design concepts. It was fulfilling to guide others and see their confidence grow. After a year and a half of professional practice, I pursued a Master's degree with the goal of entering the teaching field in architecture.
  • Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

I teach architectural design, interior design, graphic design, architectural presentation, and support research-based modules like dissertations and theses. Whether it's guiding university projects or teaching software from scratch, my approach is tailored to each student's pace and understanding.

With over 13 years of teaching experience, I customize lessons to suit individual needs, ensuring students fully grasp concepts and can apply them independently. I encourage consistent practice between software sessions, which builds confidence and fluency in using the tools.

In design critiques, I focus on collaborative problem-solving-discussing issues and exploring possible solutions together-nurturing creativity and critical thinking rather than offering ready-made answers.

Through tutoring, I've recognized the diverse needs of both students and professionals-from mastering new software to navigating design projects. One of my core strengths lies in simplifying complex topics into clear, accessible learning.
  • Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

Yes, I've had a few inspiring role models.

Dr. Priya Sasidharan, my postgraduate professor, stood out for her punctuality, time management, and exceptional approach to teaching. Her design critiques encouraged us to think critically rather than follow a fixed path, enhancing our creativity and problem-solving skills. She made the research process easier by breaking it into clear steps, always encouraging individuality and open discussion.

Another was Ar. Ambuj Manohar, my undergraduate professor, whose unique approach to urban design and research helped us shape our own methods through guided questioning rather than direct instruction. His clarity in teaching and insightful feedback made complex topics, like research methodology, much easier to grasp-often making class notes sufficient for exam prep.

These mentors deeply influenced my understanding of effective architectural pedagogy.
  • What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

A good tutor must have patience, clear communication, and a genuine passion for teaching. Since students choose tutors for additional support beyond their regular curriculum, it's essential to be encouraging, positive, and attentive to their needs. Flexibility is key-adapting lesson plans and teaching methods in real-time to match the student's pace and understanding. Strong subject knowledge is also vital to confidently handle unexpected questions and build trust. Ultimately, it's the passion for teaching that drives a tutor to go the extra mile and create meaningful, effective learning experiences.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

While working as an architect, I was once tasked with reviving a stalled project-without any working files. To make things more challenging, the original design was done in ArchiCAD, a software I had never used before. I was given just a week to remodel the existing design and submit a new proposal.

With a quick briefing and the software freshly installed, I set aside my initial fear and jumped in with a clear mind. By the end of the day, I had completed the existing model. The next morning, while working on detailing and sheet composition, my progress surprised everyone. I submitted both the remodeled design and my proposal on the same day.

What helped me adapt so quickly was my familiarity with Revit Architecture from university. Its similarities with ArchiCAD made the transition easier. The key lesson? Just get started. Fear holds you back, but action moves you forward.
  • What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

At university, we were encouraged to think outside the box, but transitioning into professional practice revealed a significant gap between academic projects and real-world expectations. It took time to adapt to industry standards. Now, eight years since graduation, I'm committed to bridging that gap-helping university students understand and prepare for the practical realities of architectural practice.
  • Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

My passion lies in creating spaces. I believe designing is not just a profession, but a way of life. Watching my designs come to life on site brings me immense joy, the same joy I experience when guiding students and seeing them complete their own designs.
  • What makes you a Superprof (besides answering this interview questions :-P)?

My passion for teaching makes me a SuperProf. My strong subject knowledge, both creative and technical, ability to break down the concepts and theories into simple explanations, patience, adapting my teaching style as per students' needs, making the students think critically, encouraging them for the best are my qualities as a SuperProf.
