About Topcue
I hold a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, a master’s degree in accounting from Eastern Michigan University, and have completed doctoral coursework at the University of Florida. My academic and professional background spans applied mathematics, accounting, and quantitative analysis, with extensive experience teaching across STEM and business disciplines. I have taught in a variety of academic settings, including university preparation programs and formal university instruction. This includes teaching MCAT and DAT boot camps for STEM Institute and serving as an instructor at Column Education Group in Korea, a competitive university preparation institute. At the University of Florida, I taught cost accounting and received an average student evaluation of 4.49 out of 5.0, which was well above the departmental average, including full-time faculty. In addition to formal teaching roles, I have nearly 18 years of tutoring experience at the high school and college levels, with selective experience supporting advanced undergraduate, postsecondary, and graduate coursework. I also have experience successfully tutoring students with learning differences and cognitive challenges, adapting instruction to individual needs while maintaining clear structure, rigor, and academic expectations. My teaching approach is grounded in the belief that students learn most effectively when instruction is tailored to how they process and integrate new material. I hold a bachelor’s degree in applied mathematics with a concentration in mathematical biology and have taught across a wide range of subjects, including mathematics, statistics, physics, chemistry, biology, organic chemistry, and accounting. I have also instructed MCAT and DAT bootcamps and taught at the university level, including cost accounting.
In STEM and quantitatively driven subjects, each topic builds directly on prior material. Gaps in foundational understanding often lead to persistent difficulty, even when short-term performance appears adequate. For this reason, my lessons emphasize building strong conceptual foundations, developing problem-solving intuition, and connecting ideas across topics. This approach supports durable understanding and long-term academic success rather than temporary fixes.
Lessons are structured around the student’s goals, background, and current level, whether that involves college preparation, advanced undergraduate coursework, professional exam preparation, or graduate-level material. I adapt pacing and methods to the individual while maintaining high standards and clear expectations.
