About Bruce

I have over 3 years of teaching experience as both a private tutor and university teaching assistant. In that time, I’ve worked with dozens of students in courses ranging from grade 10 math to second-year calculus.

Even before I started formally tutoring, I've always loved teaching. The "Feynmann Technique" - a method of learning which uses teaching as a way to identify one's own weaknesses - has always been a favourite approach of mine.

It's helped me to achieve numerous academic awards in STEM subjects including the top mark in 4 subjects in my IB graduating class and over $10,000 in scholarships throughout my mathematics degree at the University of Waterloo - while still having time for school clubs and high-level athletics.

About the lesson

Learning math requires doing math. That's why active problem solving makes up the core of my lessons.

But fear not! I won't just drop you in the deep end. I'll help you pinpoint your strengths and weaknesses and walk you through personalized examples to address the areas where you most need help. Then, I'll provide you with variations to try on your own so you can build rock-solid understanding and retention that will last from your next test to the end of your course and beyond.

That's not all. In addition to just teaching math, I’ll share with you the same evidence-based methods I used to achieve a 90+ average every single term of my undergraduate degree and get accepted to the University of Cambridge for postgraduate study.

I teach all levels of math from high school all the way through university courses, but I have particular expertise in IB math, calculus, and linear algebra at the university level.
