About Katie
"Coding became my full-time pursuit after 13 years working as a Python developer in Silicon Valley. I transitioned into teaching because I want to support beginners and career-switchers who are determined to see their projects through to completion. My technical foundation relies on 7 years of experience combined with an App Academy education and 5 years at a FAANG company.
Students often find my industry-grounded perspective helpful when navigating complex topics like JavaScript, algorithms, or database management. I handle HTML, CSS, Git, and C++ with a focus on practical application rather than abstract theory. Building a sustainable career in technology requires grit and clarity, which I strive to model for those who study alongside me."

"Fresh code appears on your screen the moment we begin our work together. I avoid dense computer science jargon to ensure that you understand the logic driving every single line you write.
My background as a developer informs how I break down complex structures into manageable parts. Practice sessions involve real world tasks that mirror what you might find inside a corporate repository.
We debug problems and iterate on logic until your software functions exactly as intended. I rely on my 9 years of direct industry mentorship to guide your progress through data structures and object-oriented programming. Happy coding, and I look forward to starting this journey with you."
