About Max
I'm a literature PhD student researching the connection between narrative and music in popular song, and believe that the tools of literary analysis are incredibly useful not only for better understanding art in general, but also for developing good media literacy and cultural understanding.
It's these skills I'm passionate about teaching, with a view to giving you not only the means to pass an exam on on set texts, but to deepen your connection to any text you may come across.

I believe in a holistic teaching of literature that gives you the fundamental skills to engage with and analyse any text you're given, while developing an understanding of critical writing. From GCSE upwards I'll help you get to grips with the history, meaning, and cultural relevance of your texts, and show you how to best phrase your knowledge.
My MA is in creative writing and at any level I can help provide critical edits alongside ideas about wider direction and focus, signposting you to useful texts and helping establish your creative voice.
