About Philip

I am a qualified teacher who has taught in a number of educational settings, assisting learners from all over the world in achieving their language learning goals. I have particular experience with tutoring Italian, Iranian and Chinese students.

I initially trained as a primary school teacher within the UK and did this for a number of years. I then realised that I wished to combine my passions for language learning and English literature by becoming an online English teacher. I really enjoy the opportunity this provides to gain an insight into the culture and linguistic habits of the students I work alongside. This very much works both ways and, as with all good lessons, I am aware of how the best lessons become a collaborative process.

Having worked with learners of all ages I am flexible in my approach and consider myself to be someone who puts the learner at their ease. I am DBS cleared and, on account of my teaching background, regularly complete the latest relevant training.

About the lesson

With a passion for English literature, I specialise in assisting intermediate/advanced students and professionals in developing their written English skills, whilst at the same time introducing them to this magical world of English literature. I can also assist you with IELTS & Cambridge exam preparation, or simply developing the other core skills of the English language.

I have, over the years, acquired numerous qualifications in Speech & Drama through the Victoria College of Music and Drama. Therefore, I am also able to assist you with accent reduction; teaching you the secrets to sounding like a native British English speaker.

Having myself been learning Italian and Farsi for a number of years, I am very familiar with the struggles a language learner faces. My 1 hour online lessons will allow you to feel at ease and empowered in striving towards your language learning goals.
