About Alexandra
- What kind of experience do you have? In addition to my six years of primary school classroom experience, working with children in KS1 and KS2, I have taught music privately for over a decade with experience teaching children and adults from beginner to advanced level - I am very proud of my students and their achievements, several of whom have left me with grade 8 distinction from the ABRSM. I have also prepared private students for auditions for music colleges and West End shows and have had students in the lead roles for School of Rock and Annie. In addition to my private work, I am currently the Musical Director of Lodge Moor Children's Choir. We have been guest performers for Sheffield Chorale, Sheffield Oratorio and Yorkshire Wind Orchestra, were selected for a National project by the Britten-Pears Foundation to work with Russell Hepplewhite and Michael Rosen and recently competed at a national level in the Manchester Amateur Choral Competition at the Royal Northern College of Music where we came second place from a selection of sixteen all age choirs. (concealed information) I was vocal coach for the children's musical theatre franchise Stagecoach Theatre Arts School - Sheffield for many years where I worked with students from ages 6 to 18 on a number of hugely rewarding projects including preparing the Children's Choir for the professional touring show of Joseph at the Lyceum and Chesterfield Winding Wheel. - Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate? I have an up to date advanced disclosure. Please get in touch if you would like to view my online certification. - Where and with whom did you train? I trained with Henrik Linnemann (flute) and Vivien Pike (singing) and then further trained at Durham University. - Do you belong to any professional organisations? I was a vocal tutor at Stagecoach Sheffield for a number of years but I'm now freelance and run my own music school (AMH MUSIC). I have my own children and youth Choir - Lodge Moor Children and Youth Choir. - Tell me about some of your current students. I am extremely proud of all of my students but if I had to pick out a few recent highlights they would be as follows: Last summer, one of my flute students achieved ABRSM grade 8 with distinction aged only 15 whilst in the same exam period, another student achieved grade 6 distinction in her flute exam having already achieved grade 5 theory with distinction earlier in the year. Another private singing student of mine is currently playing Summer in Andrew Lloyd Webber's West End musical School of Rock. She will be doing so for 9 months. I have students studying Musical Theatre at Bird and Trinity Laban this year.

Alexandra instills great enthusiasm for the music - I never have to nag my daughter to practise. This, together with her organised and professional approach, means I would unreservedly recommend her as a music teacher.
Alexandra is a fun and insightful music teacher who I very much recommend. In the past year she supported me through my grade 5 theory and grade 6 flute exam and I passed both with distinction! I am so grateful having her as my teacher as lessons are always laid back and enjoyable, which has really inspired my love for flute playing and appreciation for music in general. Five stars!
At the ripe old age of 42 I took up learning the flute...It is never too late! Huge thanks to Alexandra Middleton-Holland for her patience, excellent teaching and massive support. Alexandra is a great teacher. [My daughter] is now starting lessons in September too!!
I began flute lessons with Alexandra as a non-reader of music and now look at me! I enjoy relaxed and informative sessions in lovely surroundings. One criticism though - lessons end too soon!
Alexandra is a motivational teacher who relates really well to children. She has a great way of keeping my daughter interested and inspiring her to want to achieve and I am so impressed with how much she has learnt. The end of year concert in particular was brilliant, both to give my daughter a chance to show what she had achieved, and also for her to see the more experienced students and appreciate what is possible if she keeps working at it.
We have had a very positive experience. Our son is making great progress and, what's more, he looks forward to every lesson.
Alexandra is a fantastic teacher and is well respected and liked by her students. Our daughter enjoys her flute lessons and the approach to learning. She has made really good progress and she was new to the flute when she started. She has felt supported and encouraged. We would recommend Alexandra's flute lessons.
Alexandra is a great teacher; she has taught our son the flute now for four years and he has always enjoyed his lessons. She has worked hard to really get to know him and what suits him musically. He has just passed his grade 8 with distinction which I'm sure is down both to his ability but also her enthusiasm and knowledge
