About Suvarna
Hello, I'm Suvarna, a maths tutor based in Birmingham. I hold a Bachelor of Technology in Aeronautical Engineering and am currently studying for an MSc in Engineering Management at Aston University. I have taught Key Stage 2, Key Stage 3 and GCSE maths, and I received a written reference from my previous school in India for being patient, sincere and dependable. Since moving to the UK in April 2026, I have also volunteered with children in the community. I am DBS-checked and speak English, Hindi and Telugu.

Every student learns differently, so I start by finding out where they are now: what they enjoy, what worries them and where they get stuck. From there I plan lessons around their pace, not a fixed script.
I believe confidence matters as much as technique. Many students think they are "bad at maths" when they have simply missed one step along the way. I go back to that step, explain it in plain language, and show why a method works rather than just what to do. Then we practise with examples until they can do it on their own.
My background is in engineering, so I use real-world examples to make maths feel useful and less abstract. I have taught Key Stage 2, Key Stage 3 and GCSE maths, and my previous school in India gave me a written reference for being patient, sincere and dependable. I am DBS-checked and calm and encouraging, and I will always give honest feedback to you and your child on how they are progressing.
I also speak English, Hindi and Telugu, which can help if your child learns better with explanations in another language.
If you would like your child to feel more confident with maths, send me a message and we can talk about their needs.
