About Elen
Over the past 10 years, I've had the privilege of helping school and college students learn to play guitar in a way that feels both achievable and exciting. I believe every student has their own unique musical journey, and it's my role to help them uncover their strengths and passions through music. My approach to teaching combines essential music theory with practical skills and a focus on creativity. I make sure that students stay engaged by introducing them to different styles of music, while also providing the structure and guidance needed to build solid technical skills. One of the most fulfilling moments in my career was watching a group of my students come together to form a band. Over time, they went on to perform at local festivals, and seeing their growth in confidence, teamwork, and musicality was incredibly rewarding. Beyond the technical aspects of playing the guitar, I love seeing how music helps students develop focus, emotional expression, and confidence in themselves. Music has a powerful way of shaping lives, and I'm grateful to be part of that process.

Teaching guitar is about more than just learning chords and scales—it’s about creating a personalized journey where students are empowered to unlock their musical potential. With over a decade of experience and a degree in Music Education, I tailor my approach to meet the specific needs and goals of each student. Whether someone is picking up the guitar for the first time or already an advanced player, my goal is to provide them with the tools, encouragement, and knowledge to flourish as musicians. My approach to guitar education begins with mastering the fundamentals. I believe in building a solid technical foundation from the start, which includes developing proper posture, hand positioning, finger strength, and rhythm.
These foundational elements are the building blocks for everything else, and they will allow students to play comfortably and with confidence. By mastering these basics early on, students will be able to take on more complex techniques and musical ideas without being held back by bad habits or technical limitations. Once the foundation is in place, I focus on giving each student the opportunity to explore the music they love. Whether they’re drawn to pop, rock, blues, jazz, or classical music, I make sure that the material we cover aligns with their personal interests. Learning music that resonates with the student keeps them motivated, engaged, and excited to practice. I also incorporate theory into lessons, but I make it fun and practical by teaching it through real music—whether it’s analyzing chord progressions in a favorite song or understanding scale theory while learning to improvise.
This way, theory becomes a tool to deepen their understanding of the music they’re playing, rather than a dry, abstract concept. For students interested in songwriting, I provide guided exercises to help unlock their creativity and develop their unique musical voice. We experiment with different chord progressions, melodies, and rhythms to discover how to craft original songs. I encourage students to find their own style and voice as composers, helping them refine their ideas through constructive feedback and hands-on guidance.I also support students who want to take their playing to an advanced level, whether they aim to perform in a band, refine their classical technique, or dive into more complex improvisational techniques. I provide structured, in-depth lessons for each goal, helping them develop the technical skills necessary to play at a higher level. For performance-minded students, I work on stage presence, preparation, and overcoming performance anxiety, ensuring they’re ready to play with confidence in front of an audience.
In addition to in-person lessons, I integrate technology into my teaching. Online metronomes, tuners, and guitar apps can make practicing more efficient and engaging. These resources help students track their progress and improve their skills outside of lesson time, keeping them on track with their musical goals. My mission is to make guitar learning accessible, enjoyable, and tailored to each student's needs, creating a sustainable and fulfilling musical journey for everyone.
