About Danielle

Language learning is a journey, not a destination. My goal is to meet you where you are and help you become a more confident, comfortable speaker.

I'm a university professor and conversation specialist who has spent more than 25 years helping students develop confidence through authentic communication. I hold degrees in Spanish and education, including a master's degree from the University of Salamanca in Spain and a doctorate in education with a research focus on foreign language acquisition and study abroad. While living in Spain, I also completed TESOL training and gained experience teaching English as a guest teacher at a local school.

I lived in Spain for several years and have directed study abroad programs in both Spain and Mexico. These experiences have given me insight into helping learners bridge the gap between classroom language and real-world communication.

Throughout my career, I've discovered that students don't simply need more grammar - they need more opportunities to speak. My favorite part of teaching has always been creating a welcoming environment where students can express themselves, ask questions, make mistakes, laugh a little, and enjoy the journey.

Students often describe my teaching style as relaxed and encouraging. Whether your goal is to become more fluent, sound more natural, or simply gain confidence speaking, I'll meet you where you are and help you take your English or Spanish to the next level.

About the lesson

My lessons are designed for motivated adult learners, professionals, university/PhD students, heritage learners, lifelong language enthusiasts, and anyone who enjoys thoughtful conversation.

Specialty: Advanced conversation in English and Spanish

Ideal level: Upper-intermediate to advanced (approximately B2–C2)

What to expect:

- Relaxed, authentic conversation with gentle corrections when requested
- Discussions about culture, current events, travel, books, work, education, academic interests, and professional communication
- The option to discuss an article, podcast, or other material you send before our session

These sessions are not designed for:

- Beginners
- Children's lessons
- Homework correction
- Grammar-focused instruction (unless you specifically request it)

I provide something that years of language classes cannot: dedicated time for continuous conversation without interruption, testing, or grading. During our sessions, you'll have the freedom to express yourself, ask questions as they arise, experiment with new vocabulary, and focus on meaningful communication rather than perfect accuracy.

As a university Spanish professor with more than 25 years of teaching experience, one of the biggest lessons I've learned is that students simply need more opportunities for ongoing conversational practice. Real fluency develops through authentic conversation, thoughtful discussion, and the confidence that comes from using the language in a supportive environment. Whether your goal is to sound more natural, expand your vocabulary, improve your pronunciation, or simply become a more confident speaker, I'll meet you where you are and help you continue your language journey.
