About Enya

I started training in Musical Theatre in 2015, after obtaining a BA and MA in Communication Sciences (Media Studies) and BA in Psychology in Belgium (I guess I enjoyed studying…). During my years at University, I was very lucky to be able to also train with Musical Theatre Company Mithe and appeared in ‘Eight Women’ as Catherine, ‘The Thing About Men’ (Ensemble) and Elle Woods in ‘Legally Blonde’. I continued the Musical Theatre teaching I had started when I was 16 throughout those years, and started writing plays and song lyrics together with children.

After finishing my training in Musical Theatre, I have continued taking several courses in LABAN (a method for describing and analysing human movement), Meisner Technique (acting with a focus on the immediate environment) and Stanislavski’s ‘actioning’. I like to implement some (aspects) of these techniques into my coachings also, and amend my teaching depending on what works for each individual student.
I also finished my DDE Dance Teaching Qualification and am an ISTD tap and ballet teacher.

Some of my credits as an actor in the UK include: touring around primary schools as ‘Pinocchio’, being Glinda in an immersive performance of ‘the Wizard of Oz’ and most recently I filmed the newest ‘Edgard and Cooper’ commercial for dog food.

My interests in psychology, personalities and emotions through my background, combined with my love for stories, my belief in the importance of empathy and understanding, as well as my passion to improve people’s confidence and self-belief, are what I hope make up the ingredients of my approach to teaching.

About the lesson

Hi!
I am an actress trained in Acting and Musical Theatre, with several years of teaching experience in acting, public speaking, musical theatre, ballet, tap, modern & interview preparation.
I have entered many students for LAMDA Performance & Communication Exams, as well as ISTD Tap and Ballet, for which I am DDE qualified. I have also helped several students prepare for secondary school interviews, as well as performing arts school auditions and drama school/degree auditions.
I strongly believe in a mutual teaching approach, where I work together with the student to find the meaning and an understanding of the pieces we work on. I try to create a positive atmosphere where the student feels comfortable giving ideas and working freely to make their performances as authentic as possible.
