About Beth

ABOUT ME

Training

I am an actor and creative who trained at East 15 Acting School, one of the top drama schools in the UK, and graduated with a First Class Bachelor of Honours degree in Acting. Prior to my degree, I completed a foundation course (Certificate of Higher Education in Theatre Arts) at East 15, which was primarily focused on intensive drama school audition preparation. I am also a member of the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain. Since graduating in 2021, I gained representation from a top London agent and I have been working and auditioning professionally ever since in stage and screen and voice acting. I am actively involved in the industry, auditioning for top casting directors across stage and screen and attending workshops to develop my own craft and feed my creativity, which then enhances my teaching. I also work as a reader and facilitator for various casting director workshops, which has helped me see the work from another perspective and helped expand my insight into how to approach self-tapes and auditions.

Teaching experience

I have been giving private coaching for several years, primarily assisting prospective students with drama school audition preparation. Being a recent drama school graduate, I have a unique insight into the audition process, having had the opportunity to assist at the audition days numerous times, so know the qualities the panel will be looking for, and have a good knowledge base of the current content and demands of the courses. Peers of mine I have coached have gone on to get multiple recalls and secure places at the top uk drama schools.
I also have a wealth of experience tutoring younger students in acting and singing and find it so rewarding seeing their progress and confidence grow each week. Before attending drama school, I regularly assisted and co-directed youth theatre classes at my local stage school, on a group and 1:1 basis. I have led music and theatre workshops with high school students in Shanghai as part of a leadership exchange, and so am comfortable working with students who may not have English as their first language.
If LAMDA exams are the route you choose to go down, my own experience working through the grades means I have a good knowledge of the syllabus, and an empathetic understanding of the preparation needed and what the examiners will be looking for in your performance. LAMDA exams are great for honing acting and performance skills, public speaking, growing in confidence, and also building a repertoire of monologues (which could be used as drama school entrance further down the line).

Acting and performing has been a big part of my life from a young age and has shaped me into the person I am today. Before discovering my love for theatre/performing, I was a painfully shy child who struggled to even answer my name in the register; yet I came alive on stage and in a rehearsal room, where I had the freedom to express myself through creativity. It was (and still is) the place I felt the most ‘me’. I’ve seen first-hand how beneficial acting classes can be, both personally and creatively, and am passionate about helping others grow in confidence and skill throughout their sessions.

What methods do you use?

My approach to acting and teaching is informed by a range of techniques and methodologies that have resonated with me throughout my training. I am a firm believer in exploring a range of approaches and discovering the method that feels right for each individual student and the demands of each specific project. Some of the methods I use are drawn from Stanislavski, Laban, Meisner, and Michael Chekhov, as well as various other practitioners and techniques I have explored throughout my training.

My ethos as a tutor

- My priority as a tutor is to create a warm, safe, inclusive space, where students have the freedom to explore their creativity free from judgments or fear of ‘getting it wrong’. I am committed to creating an environment that is accessible to everyone regardless of any additional access needs or adjustments.
