About Omar
Hi, I’m Omar, a specialist maths tutor with a strong academic background and first-hand experience of the GCSE and A-level exam process.
I focus on helping students develop genuine understanding, exam confidence, and the problem-solving skills required to achieve top grades. I achieved A*A*A*A* in my 2025 summer exams, studying Maths, Further Maths, Physics, and Design & Technology, alongside (concealed information) at GCSE. I have also achieved Gold in the UKMT Senior Maths Challenge and qualified for the Senior Kangaroo Maths Challenge, where I was invited to participate during Year 13. These achievements reflect my deep and sustained engagement with mathematics well beyond the standard curriculum.
Having completed both GCSE and A-level Maths myself, I understand precisely what examiners are looking for, where students commonly lose marks, and how to turn uncertainty into clear, well-structured answers. This first-hand insight allows me to teach with precision rather than guesswork. My approach is specialist and focused. Every topic I tutor is one I know deeply and actively enjoy studying, which makes me a clear, enthusiastic, and effective communicator. I continue to study mathematics at university, ensuring that my subject knowledge remains sharp and well beyond exam level. Results are important.
I pride myself on breaking complex ideas down to their foundations, identifying gaps quickly, and helping students develop independence in their thinking. Whether a student is aiming to secure a pass or push towards top grades, my goal is always the same: consistent progress built on clarity, practice, and confidence.

Maths is not about memorising tricks: it’s about recognising patterns, understanding foundations, and knowing how to apply ideas under exam conditions. That principle shapes how I teach every session. I primarily teach through exam questions, beginning by identifying gaps quickly, often ones students don’t realise they have. From there, I break topics down to first principles and rebuild them carefully, making sure the student understands not just how a method works, but why. I place very strong emphasis on exam technique: interpreting questions accurately, choosing the correct method efficiently, and presenting solutions in a way examiners reward. Lessons are interactive and student-led rather than passive. I ask targeted questions, adapt explanations in real time, and use carefully chosen questions to stretch understanding without overwhelming. Mistakes are treated as useful data, they show us exactly what needs fixing! A typical lesson lasts 60/90 minutes, which I’ve found is the optimal balance between focus and progress. Longer sessions can be arranged where appropriate, particularly closer to exams or for intensive revision. I specialise exclusively in GCSE and A-level Maths, although I do offer primary and 11+ maths support. Having achieved A* in Maths and Further Maths myself, alongside Gold in the UKMT Senior Maths Challenge and qualifying for the Kangaroo Challenge, I bring both strong subject knowledge and first-hand exam experience. I continue to study mathematics at university, ensuring my understanding remains deep and current rather than frozen at A-level. My lessons are suited to students aged 10–18, who are: 1) struggling with confidence or foundations 2) aiming to move from mid to high grades 3) pushing for top grades and A/A* outcomes Above all, my goal is to help students become calmer, more independent thinkers who understand what they’re doing and why. Consistent progress comes from clarity and confidence, and that’s exactly what my lessons are designed to build, through practice questions and pure repetition.

Omar is a great tutor. He has helped me move from a Grade C in A-Level Maths to an A* Predicted which I have used to apply to top Russel Group Universities on UCAS. He also helped me go from an expected Grade 5 in GCSE Maths to a Grade 7 in my final exams.
A fantastic tutor.
