About Sufyan

Hi, I’m Sufyan, a Dentistry student at the University of Manchester with a love of Maths and explaining ideas clearly.

I achieved an A* in Edexcel A-level Mathematics, scoring 284/300, and received King Edward VII School’s W P Taylor Prize as the highest-achieving A-level Maths student in my cohort.

My experience includes tutoring A-level Maths students individually. I particularly enjoy breaking down a question that initially looks intimidating into steps a student can understand and apply themselves.

I care about the details of an explanation: what each step means, why it works and where someone might get stuck. If something hasn’t clicked, I’m happy to explain it another way. You should feel comfortable asking questions, including ones you think you “should already know”.

Having worked towards demanding exams myself, I understand the importance of using revision time well. I want to help students build confidence through real understanding, develop effective study habits and feel better prepared to tackle questions independently.

About the lesson

Can you follow a worked example, but feel stuck when you try an exam question yourself? My lessons focus on helping you bridge that gap.

I offer GCSE and A-level Maths tutoring, whether you’re rebuilding confidence, working towards a particular grade or tackling the hardest questions.

I achieved an A* in A-level Maths with 284/300 and now study Dentistry at the University of Manchester. I also have experience tutoring A-level Maths students.

WHAT TO EXPECT

• A clear starting point: we’ll discuss your goals, exam board and current difficulties, then use targeted questions to identify gaps.

• Step-by-step explanations: we’ll work through why a method works and when to use it, with time to ask questions without feeling rushed or judged.

• Practice that builds independence: you’ll move from guided examples to solving questions yourself, so we can check your understanding before moving on.

• Focused exam preparation: we’ll practise recognising what a question requires, presenting your working clearly and avoiding mistakes that lose marks.

• A plan between lessons: I’ll suggest manageable, targeted practice and revisit difficult topics to check what has stuck.

Lessons are available online, with in-person sessions in Sheffield or Manchester by arrangement.
