About Oscar

Maths has always been a subject I’ve loved — for its logic, problem-solving, and the confidence it builds in learners. I trained as a Maths teacher through the Teach First graduate programme after completing my Economics degree at the University of Bristol. I taught Maths at Bradford Forster Academy from 2018 to 2020, during which I also earned a Master’s in Education with distinction.

Since then, I’ve worked as an Economist in the UK civil service, where I recently completed a second Master’s — this time in Economics, again with distinction. My academic background includes A* grades in Maths, Further Maths, Economics, and Politics at A-level, and I bring that same commitment to excellence to every student I teach.

Since 2020, I’ve been tutoring Maths to students of all ages and abilities, from those aiming to build confidence at GCSE to high-achievers targeting top A-level grades. I combine deep subject knowledge with a clear, structured, and friendly teaching style, always tailored to the individual needs of the student.

About the lesson

I tailor each lesson to suit the individual needs, learning style, and goals of the student. With my background as a qualified Maths teacher, I bring a wide range of high-quality resources and teaching strategies, allowing me to adapt lessons to maximise progress and build confidence.

I place a strong emphasis on tracking progress. Using past papers and diagnostic tasks, I identify key areas for improvement and then break these down into manageable steps. This structured, targeted approach helps students deepen their understanding and make measurable progress toward their academic goals.

Whether a student needs help building foundational skills or pushing for top grades, my lessons are designed to be engaging, supportive, and focused on long-term success.
