About Liliya

ACCA APM, ACCA AFM, ACCA SBR, ACCA SBL, ACCA AAA, ACCA FM, ACCA AA, ACCA PM, ACCA FR, DipIFR tutor, as well as CIMA tutor.

Science-backed tutoring: I've studied how to identify sub-skill gaps and how to fix them in adults. I don't just teach ACCA; I specialize in teaching as a means of making any person grasp any idea.

Personal experience with ACCA: Passed APM, AFM, and SBR in a single sitting (also FM, AA, and PM in a single sitting), and was a prizewinner twice.

Worked as a CFO and financial consultant, so I know how to apply knowledge in practice.

I've had groups with 100% pass rates in APM, SBR, and FM when I taught offline. I've never had lower than an 80% pass rate when I taught groups.

Hi, I’m Liliya Kirylenka, one of the best ACCA tutors.

As an adult you have to balance your career, family, and personal commitments. That’s why you can’t afford just any tutor, you need a tutor that has invested in learning how to teach adults so that they can pass with less effort.

Why choose me?
Proven success with complex cases:
o Worked with students with learning difficulties like dyslexia and postcovid memory problems - they passed.
o Helped “chronic retakers” - they passed.
o I had clients who had to pass four strategic papers in just two sessions – they did

A science-based approach to teaching:
o Don’t know what option to choose in test-questions? I’ve researched and refined methods that help adults nail tests.
o Struggling with scenario-based questions? My approach trains you to dissect complex information, identify what’s truly being asked, and make precise, high-scoring answers.
o Don’t have enough time in the exam? Your answering style will change and each and every sentence of yours will score a mark.
o Hate ACCA already? I know how to make people find beauty in these exams

About me
o Over a decade of expertise: Teaching since 2012, specializing in ACCA since 2015.
o Real-world CFO insights: As a CFO in manufacturing, Big-4 auditor, I translate theory into tangible business realities, so you learn the “why,” not just the “what.”
•o Outstanding credentials: Passed APM, AFM, and SBR in a single session and became a two-time prizewinner. I know how to see the answer within the scenario, and I’ll help you do the same.

What you gain from my tutoring
o Immediate impact, long-term value: Develop the skills that will help you pass not only this paper, but other exams to come
o Focused summaries: No fluff—just the insights you need.
o A short list of the best practice questions: So you don’t waste time on irrelevant tasks.
o Session recordings: Just in case you need to revisit something.
o Think like an examiner: Learn to see through the examiners’ eyes, capturing marks that others miss.

Your investment in quality

My teaching approach is adjusted based on the specifics of the paper:

APM (Advanced Performance Management):
We’ll use short, targeted scenarios to teach you understand the requirement, apply the right models, and write the answers that score a mark per sentence. On average, it takes a retaker 10 classes to get a pass-rate.

SBR (Strategic Business Reporting):
Learn how to write an answer that scores, even when you’re unsure about the exact accounting treatment.

AFM (Advanced Financial Management):
We’ll master nine most common numerical question types so that you can visualise the principles behind the formulas. You’ll have "mental templates" for numerical questions and you'll get a skill of knowing how to answer discursive ones.

PM (Performance Management):
You'll understand precisely what’s being asked in each question and learn to spot where the examiner might be trying to mislead you. We'll look into what little parts of scenarios mean and how they impact the answer. You'll finally understand variances and visualise them. I'll teach you to score well in Section C as well.

etc..

Session Recordings & Materials:
You'll have your personal folder with all the recordings just in case you need to revisit something. I don't post them elsewhere, they are just for you. You'll also have summarised theory and concise examples.

  • When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

I began teaching ACCA as soon as I qualified myself. At that time, I was working at EY. I used to teach my subordinates on weekends for free just because I loved teaching.

Later on, I was contracted by an ACCA Gold Approved Learning Provider, and I had the opportunity to get a glimpse of the inner workings of the ACCA CBE System even before its official launch. I had the chance to listen to the examiners, which provided me with a different and very unique perspective on teaching.

When I started working as the CFO of a production company, I realized that every topic I had learned during my ACCA studies was directly relevant to my job. My ACCA knowledge enabled me to solve numerous problems the company faced in financial management and business planning. This motivated me to continue teaching.

Now, I've decided to work from home. Since I've already established processes at the company where I served as CFO, I have more time to dedicate to teaching, which I absolutely love because it always brings about positive emotions
  • Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

I started in 2015 by teaching ACCA Financial Management because I love making complex topics easy to comprehend. My first group achieved tremendous success: out of 15 students, only 1 failed with 49 marks. I was then offered the opportunity to teach APM and SBR (P2 back then). Little by little, I realized that I had taught everything except for tax and law…

Over the years, I've learned that different exams require different approaches. For example, the only way to ensure an ACCA APM pass is by having students complete 10-mark questions that I review and provide feedback on. Otherwise, students just won't know what went wrong and won't have a chance to improve their results.

ACCA AFM requires logical thinking and real-world analogies, coupled with practice to reinforce theoretical knowledge.

ACCA SBR demands teaching students how to tackle challenging questions, even if they have no clue about the final answer. It's also crucial to address any misconceptions.

When it comes to CIMA Management Case Study, it's essential to work extensively with the preseen material and focus on efficient revision of the syllabus and exam-answering techniques.

    And so forth...
  • Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

When I was a kid, I participated in national mathematics Olympiads. We had an incredible teacher whom we eagerly ran to school to meet every Sunday. Even as a child, I had a desire to learn how to teach students in a way that would make them love being taught.

Regarding my ACCA teachers, I had an outstanding ACCA Financial Management teacher who was genuinely captivating who gave me an idea that teaching ACCA is cool, and a not-so-great ACCA Advanced Financial Management teacher who served as an example of how not to teach 😊.
  • What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

    Devotion:

To be an effective tutor, one needs to dedicate a lot of time to prepare high-quality materials tailored to each individual's needs. Of course, this preparation is done outside of paid hours, so the tutor must have a genuine desire to teach and find it worthwhile to invest time in refining their teaching methods.

The ability to provide real-life examples:

Concepts like the Capital Asset Pricing Model become much easier to grasp when you just open Bloomberg and calculate the cost of equity for Facebook with your student, don't they?

Similarly, explaining Lean Manufacturing and Business Process Reengineering is more straightforward when you share practical examples from your own experience.

    The ability to organize information:

The best way to remember financial instruments is to arrange them in a table, right?
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

At first, I was hesitant to teach ACCA Strategic Business Leader (SBL) because I already had many exams under my belt. However, a student who had successfully passed ACCA APM with me begged me to help her with SBL, as she had previously failed it with another tutor. I was initially reluctant and warned her that it would be her own risk.

As it turned out, I was able to provide significant value. I quickly identified gaps in her understanding of key topics, and after getting 25 10-mark questions reviewed by me, she passed the exam with an excellent score.
  • What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

For me, the challenge lies in focusing on just a few subjects. On one hand, I'd like to guide my students from their very first exams to their final ones. On the other hand, it can be exhausting when you have to teach 10 different exams in a single week.
  • Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

As a matter of fact, I just love the process of teaching. If I don't have enough classes and my "teach someone" need is not satisfied in full, I start bugging my family.
  • What makes you a Superprof (besides answering these interview questions :-P) ?

I have people who come to me after several failed attempts and then suddenly they pass and move on. I have experience, methodology and desire to make people pass.
