About Rachel

I am a university tutor and research assistant. I teach on Bachelor and Masters of Education courses at Griffith University. I have a Master's in Education (Career Development and Educational Counseling), and postgraduate qualifications in Education and Creative Industries. I am a Vocational Education (VET) trainer, with experience teaching on a range of TAFE courses, and 10 years experience in English as a Second Language (ESL) and TESOL. I am an avid learner, technical writer and have a range of experience from consulting, to TESOL teaching, to research, academic literacy and executive communication. I can assist you with any school, TAFE and university subjects that require understanding assessment, rubrics, literacy, critical thinking and creative, technical or critical writing. We will also have some fun in the process, I will design lessons to suit your needs!

About the lesson

I am a career and learning coach living in Ocean Shores I am also a an academic literacy and communications teacher, specialising in English, ESL, HSC English, professional and academic communication and writing (technical, creative, critical).

I have 10 years’ experience as a teacher and tutor in private colleges, universities, and the vocational education sector, after transitioning into education from corporate consultancy. I am a qualified career practitioner, a professional member of the Career Development Association of Australia, and provide a professional and caring approach in my work.

My goal is to provide effective, external support to help students navigate the various choices presented to them as they transition from school. I can help with goal setting, values identification, career guidance, resume and job interview advice, networking support and communication skills.

I love learning and I love working with people. My passion is to help reignite my student's curiosity for learning and their excitement at the possibilities of navigating careers in the 21st century. Coming from an academic background, with work experience in the vocational sector, I can work with people interested in pursuing both academic and vocational career pathways.

My methodology is student centred, I focus on identifying students strengths, values and goals. We look at study skills and study strategies, and I seek to build trust and connection, as I know that learning is closely connected to how we feel - so I want my students to feel good, supported and understood. From there, I can make tailor made lessons depending on the students' needs.
