About Ruchika

Hello! I'm Ruchika and I'm currently a 4th year medical student at Queens University Belfast, UK. I'm 1 year away from being a board certified general practitioner and hope to work for the NHS! As part of the rigorous application process as an international student from Dubai to medical school in the UK, I had to strengthen my concepts in Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology to attain the grades necessary, which I was able to successfully achieve by attaining a 96.4% overall in my final exam that was conducted by a prestigious Indian exam board (AISSCE). I've been extremely passionate about tutoring for as long as I remember, the earliest I remember teaching was as a 12 year old 'mentor' to another student in my year! I kept that up by registering with agencies in Dubai and the UK with rigorous selection processes, and am certified now to teach students sitting their GCSE'S, AS or A - levels! I also in my free time mentor some of my juniors in med school! Other hobbies I enjoy in my free time besides teaching are reading, football and baking! As a fairly recent high school graduate myself, I understand how difficult it can be to grasp concepts unless they are simplified and broken down to understand without much overcomplication, which is why I employ teaching techniques with many visual aids, pneumonics and use a 'for dummies' explanation strategy, that students in the past have seemed to enjoy! I hope to help you develop a love for the subjects you've taken at school, succeed with flying colours and achieve the grades that you need for pursuing your passion at university!

About the lesson

Hello! I'm Ruchika and I'm a 4th year medical student who's extremely passionate about tutoring high school students! Being a fairly recent school graduate myself, I'm well versed with the different curriculums and exam patterns, and I employ a variety of teaching techniques that are interactive with the help of visual aids and pneumonics to increase retention and conceptual understanding. My previous students greatly appreciate my ‘for dummies’ strategy with simplified explanations that help strengthen core concepts. I’m well versed with AQA, Edexcel, OCR, Welsh, Irish etc and other exam boards thanks to my previous experience as a tutor at an agency based in Dubai and another based in the UK, where I tutored students all the way from KS2 to upper 6th. My lessons mainly cater towards students from Years 5 to Yr13, and run for upto 2 hour long sessions with very flexible dates and timings, catering to the student’s preferences. I create lesson plans that are bespoke and cater to the needs of each individual student after assessing their current level.

Qualifications :
- Secured an overall aggregate of 94.5% with 95% in Math, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and 94% in English for my AISSE exam (final exam conducted by the prestigious Indian Board CBSE)
- National and international accolades specifically for Biology and Math (attached Curriculum Vitae)
- Scored in the 90th percentile for the UK medical school entrance exam (UCAT)

Previous Experience :
- Currently employed as a freelance tutor by GoStudent, another tutoring agency based in the UK and Ireland
- Formally with an agency based in Dubai “Brighterprep Institute” preparing students for their GCSE’s in Biology Maths English and Physics, and for their A-Levels in Biology
- Formally as part of a startup business “College Counselors” catering to students applying to Medical school in the UK, preparing them for the UCAT, Mock Mini Interviews, and their Personal Statements
- Informally as part of a mentorship scheme at Queens University Belfast, tutoring 1st year medical students
- Experience in interacting with specially abled students (on the autism spectrum disorder) as a volunteer at multiple institutions across Dubai
