About Grace

My name is Grace and I recently finished my third year of full time teaching. I am currently teaching fifth grade, and I previously taught kindergarten.

I have babysat, nannied, tutored, and taught for over 9 years. I have dedicated years to studying child development and education of grades Kindergarten through Sixth Grade.

I thoroughly enjoy my time with the children that I teach, tutor, and babysit. I strive to make the time spent with kids as enriching and positive as possible. I look forward to spending my summer providing families with the help and care they need.

I enjoy the "ah-ha" moments. The moments when students learn something new. I look forward to the teaching and learning process each time I work with a student.

I come from a family of teachers and I have gravited toward learning and education my whole life. I began babysitting in middle school, and I found a talent for keeping kids engaged in fun, interactive activities.

My passion for teaching only grew when I was a freshman in college. I was tutoring students in an after school care program and as I was helping one student with his math homework, I saw his face light up when he had that "ah-ha" learning moment as I explained a new math conecpt to him. I realized that day that I am intrisically motivated to teach. From that moment I knew I was pursuing the right career in education.

I am a credentialed teacher. I am currently teaching fifth grade and I previously taught kindergarten. I am a graduate of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo's Multiple Subject Teacher Credential Program.

I have babysat, nannied, tutored, and taught for over 9 years. For the past 3 years I have been a full-time classroom teacher. I have dedicated years to studying child development and teaching elementary students from grades kindergarten through sixth grade.

About the lesson

I begin by creating a rapport with new students. It is important to establish trust and learn about the student's interests. I do this so I am able to create lessons that will be engaging and fun for the student. I then create and administer assessments so that I am able to meet student's needs and focus on areas of growth.

I thoroughly enjoy my time with the children that I teach, tutor, and babysit. I strive to make the time spent with kids as enriching and positive as possible.

I have worked with a range of students from early childhood and infants, through elementary age students.

I have taught kindergarten for a year, and fifth grade for two years. During my credential program, I student taught sixth and first grade for a year.

It is important to love learning. My belief is that learning should not stop when school is done, everyone must be a life long learner. My goal is to provide children with a fun, engaging lesson/classroom experience so that they are positively motivated to continue learning.
