About Senan

I am a first-year medical student at UCC with a strong academic background and a particular interest in teaching and helping students improve their confidence.

I achieved 100% in Higher Level Leaving Cert Math, as well as seven H1 grades overall. Having recently completed the Leaving Cert myself, I understand the course, the pressure of the exams and the importance of combining strong mathematical understanding with good exam technique.

I also tutor HPAT students, which has given me experience explaining difficult ideas clearly, breaking problems down into manageable steps and adapting my teaching to suit different students.

My aim is to create a relaxed and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. Whether a student is struggling with a topic or aiming for a top grade, I focus on helping them build confidence and develop a reliable approach to exam questions.

About the lesson

I tailor each lesson to the individual student, focusing on the areas where they can make the biggest improvement. My approach is based on understanding the methods behind questions rather than simply memorising solutions, so that students can apply what they learn confidently in exams.

Having achieved 100% in Higher Level Leaving Cert Maths, I have a very strong understanding of the course, exam technique and the types of questions students are likely to face. I also currently tutor HPAT students, so I have experience explaining difficult concepts clearly and adapting my teaching to different students.

Lessons can focus on particular topics, homework, exam questions, revision or general improvement across the course. I place a strong emphasis on worked examples and past-paper questions, while also identifying recurring mistakes and showing students how to avoid them.

A typical lesson lasts around one hour, although this can be adjusted depending on the student's needs.

These lessons are suitable for secondary-school students of all levels, including Junior Cycle and Leaving Cert students, whether they are looking to strengthen weaker areas, move up a grade, or aim for the highest marks possible.
