About Ian

"When the student is ready, the Master will Come."

An age-old adage I hold in high esteem after many a year searching for a Master and finding one a stone's throw from my home after a family move to the southwest of England. My name is Master Ian Osborne and I have been training in traditional Martial Arts for over 30 years. My art is that of Tae Kwon Do - make no mistake, not the competition version you have seen in the Olympics but an ancient version that stretches back 90 generations from a time of great turmoil and upheaval in Korea some two thousand years ago. Where to make yourself strong so that you could help others was more important than sporting accolades.
With a direct link from that time via teachings that have been passed down from master to student, I have been fortunate to train with and be graded by world-renown Grand Master Jung Ho Jun and his senior pupil in the UK and my Master – Master Davies.
With the challenges of modern living and its pace, the pillars of society are being eroded to satiate what appears to be the modern philosophy of "everything now." Through diligence, hard work, and continued practice you will learn as I have, to take your martial art with you in everything you do as you instil the tenets of Tae Kwon Do of Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self Control and Indomitable spirit.

About the lesson

Lessons are tailored to the individual in terms of pace, complexity, and techniques covered. And given the online environment be limited to striking, forms or patterns (prescribed sequences of movements) blocking, and kicking techniques.

Here you will learn the fundamentals to develop effective striking and blocking techniques across a range of stances and sequences from your own home.

All sessions will begin with:

Breathing exercises to help optimise mental focus
Passive and active stretching
Static sitting stance striking techniques

Followed by a mixture of:

Striking techniques
Blocking techniques
Kicking
Sequences of blocking, striking, and kicking
Forms

In addition, the sessions will explore the fundamentals around self-defense, when and how to apply force, and the philosophies around the martial way of living.
