About Amelia
At Edinburgh, I chose to embark on a course called Languages Beyond University. This requires me to undertake a placement where I teach French to beginner learners. I chose to do this because I enjoy sharing my passion for the language and helping younger students build confidence from an early stage. Having studied French myself, I understand both the challenges and the rewarding moments that come with learning it, which motivates me to create a supportive and engaging environment.

My approach as a French tutor for young learners is centred on bringing the language to life through culture. I focus on making lessons engaging and meaningful by incorporating songs, stories, games, and traditions from French-speaking countries, so students connect words with real experiences. Rather than memorisation alone, I encourage communication through role-play, food, celebrations, and everyday situations, helping students build confidence naturally. By placing culture at the heart of learning, I aim to spark curiosity and make French feel relevant, enjoyable and alive.
