About Kelvin Ejumevwo

Is Algebra becoming more difficult than it should be?

Hi, I'm Kelvin — a Mathematics tutor with an MSc in Applied Mathematics, a BSc in Physics, and 14+ years of teaching experience. My mission is to offer affordable, individualized academic support to students who need it. I believe every child can succeed academically with the right resources and support — and sometimes that extra support is best found outside the classroom, and I feel I can fill that role.

Whether you or your child is preparing for the SAT, GCSE, IGCSE, IB, AP, A-Level, or university mathematics, catching up on missed concepts, or aiming for higher grades, I can help you turn confusion into understanding, confidence, and measurable progress.

I don't believe mathematics should be about memorizing formulas or following procedures without understanding them. I help students understand why mathematics works, recognize patterns, solve unfamiliar problems, and apply their knowledge with confidence — from Pre-Algebra and Algebra through Geometry, Trigonometry, Precalculus, and Calculus.

My approach is patient, adaptable, structured, and goal-focused, with every lesson built around the student's level, curriculum, and target outcome.

Why Students & Parents Choose Me
Families choose me because they want more than homework help. They want an experienced teacher who can identify what's holding a student back, explain difficult concepts clearly, and provide a practical path forward.

I help students:
• Identify and address important learning gaps
• Understand challenging concepts through clear, step-by-step explanations
• Build strong mathematical foundations
• Develop problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
• Improve accuracy and mathematical fluency
• Prepare strategically for examinations
• Become increasingly independent learners

Every lesson is personalized around the student's current level, curriculum, learning needs, and target outcome — I adjust the pace, explanations, examples, and support accordingly.

Student Progress & Results
Students I've worked with have achieved results including:
• SAT Math score increases of up to 200 points
• GCSE students moving from Foundation to Higher Tier and securing Grades 8–9
• A-Level students achieving A and A* grades
• Successful admission to competitive Engineering, Medicine, Computer Science, Economics, and other STEM programs
• Students developing the skills to tackle challenging problems without relying on memorization

For me, success is about more than a higher grade. It means helping students become capable mathematical thinkers who can approach unfamiliar problems with clarity and confidence.

About Me
I've taught students from the UK, US, Canada, Australia, UAE, and beyond, across a wide range of curricula and educational systems. What I love most about teaching math is that moment when a concept finally clicks, and a student's face lights up — that "aha" moment is why I do this work.

My teaching experience includes:
• SAT, PSAT & ACT Math
• GCSE & IGCSE Mathematics
• A-Level Mathematics
• IB Mathematics — AA & AI, SL & HL
• AP Precalculus & AP Calculus — AB & BC
• Pre-Algebra & Algebra I/II
• Geometry & Trigonometry
• Functions & Precalculus
• College Algebra
• Calculus I & II

My Teaching Approach
I combine a structured learning process with a flexible, student-centred approach:
1. Review — Revisit previous learning and identify concepts that need reinforcement.
2. Explain — Break new concepts into clear, logical steps using visual representations and carefully selected examples.
3. Check Understanding — Use targeted questions to uncover misconceptions and confirm genuine understanding.
4. Practise — Work through carefully selected problems with guidance, gradually building greater independence.
5. Apply — Tackle exam-style and unfamiliar problems to develop flexible problem-solving skills.
6. Review & Plan — Assess what has been mastered, address remaining difficulties, and establish the next priorities.

Where appropriate, lessons incorporate digital whiteboards, visual explanations, personalized resources, Desmos, GeoGebra, and exam-style questions.
Understand → Practise → Apply → Master → Become Independent
