About Shivani

I am a First Class Honours graduate and currently two years into a finance graduate scheme at a bank, working as a Financial Accountant while studying towards my ACA qualification. Alongside my professional role, I offer Maths tutoring for students aged 5–16, including 11+ and GCSE exam preparation.

I achieved top grades at A-Level, including an A in Maths, and completed 12 GCSEs with grades A–B (9–7), including 9 (A*) in Maths. I also have several years of experience tutoring Maths at primary, GCSE, and A-Level.

While at university, I worked at a tuition centre, tutoring Maths to students across a wide age range. My youngest student was 5 years old (Reception) and my oldest was an 18-year-old A-Level student, giving me strong experience adapting lessons to suit different abilities, confidence levels, and learning styles. I have also tutored GCSE students through volunteering.

I find teaching Maths genuinely rewarding and enjoy helping students build confidence in a subject they may previously have found challenging. I believe students learn best when they are actively involved and feel supported, so my lessons are structured, interactive, and encouraging, with clear explanations and plenty of guided practice.

My aim is to help each student develop a solid understanding of Maths, improve their problem-solving skills, and feel more confident both in lessons and in exams.

About the lesson

From my experience as a tutor, students learn best when they feel confident, supported, and actively involved in their learning. I therefore provide engaging, interactive lessons that are carefully tailored to each student’s individual needs and learning style.

Lessons can follow the school curriculum or focus on specific areas where a student may need extra support. I work with primary school up to GCSE students, helping them to build strong foundations, improve understanding, and gain confidence in Maths.

My teaching goes beyond simply explaining concepts. I guide students through clear, step-by-step examples and set targeted practice questions to reinforce learning and encourage independent thinking. I place a strong emphasis on patience, clarity, and positive reinforcement to help students feel comfortable asking questions.

Example lesson structure:
• Clear explanation of the topic, with notes made together to check understanding
• Step-by-step worked examples to demonstrate methods
• Practice questions completed by the student, with guidance and feedback provided

Lesson structure is always flexible and adapted to suit each student’s pace, goals, and learning preferences.
