About Sofia

I never gave lessons in England but I used to be a tutor when I was still living in Switzerland. I am very patient and many of my students were between 12 and 16 years old and I mainly taught them French but for the youngest ones, I would also help them do their math and Italian homework. I started tutoring after I realized I liked helping my little cousins with their courses, I was the oldest one and they would ask me to help them and I immediately liked it. I think that it is important to keep in mind that some children do not understand their course because the teacher's methodology is not adapted to everyone, after all we are humans, but the thing is, that it makes them very insecure of themselves and some even thinks they are less intelligent. I believe it is important to be a support for this children in order to help them and find different ways to teach.

About the lesson

I know French can be a very difficult language but I always tell my students: "there is nothing you can not do as long as you are motivated and helped". I had very different types of students, impatient, shy and even some that did not want to study. What I normally do in the firsts lessons is try to understand the character of the students in order to have an idea of what will catch their attention and then built my course around it. My students were usually pretty young ( 11 or 12 ) but for older students around 16 years old, there was no need to do this. So my course and methodology are different as I try to adapt them to every student's needs.
