About Asha

I am a Computer Science graduate with a Master’s in Healthcare Management and Data Science, but at heart, I remain an artist deeply rooted in the world of music. Originally from Kerala, India, I have been practicing Carnatic music for over 20 years and have been teaching since 2019. Currently based in Germany, I continue to offer Carnatic vocal music classes both online and offline, connecting with students across the globe. My experience includes performances in music albums, television shows, and stage programs, and I have been fortunate to receive recognition and appreciation from esteemed personalities such as: •
Late Guru Dakshinamoorthy Swami (mentor to the legendary playback singer Sri K. J. Yesudas) •
Poet and lyricist Sri Madhusudhanan • Several renowned film directors and artists My teaching is grounded in tradition yet flexible, tailored to each student’s background—whether you’re a beginner or resuming after a break. Film songs with a foundation in classical training are also part of the curriculum for those interested.

About the lesson

I offer Carnatic vocal music classes tailored to suit the needs of both beginners and those with prior training. Whether you’re starting fresh or resuming after a break, I’m happy to guide you from your current level—provided a brief performance evaluation confirms your foundation. My teaching approach is friendly, patient, and personalized, keeping in mind each student’s unique learning pace and capability. For those interested in learning film songs, I also provide training with a focus on essential basics to build a strong musical foundation. If you’re passionate about vocal music and looking for structured, engaging classes, feel free to reach out. Currently based in Germany – Online classes available for students worldwide. Perfect! Easy to approach and follow.

Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?
Music has been a part of my life, since I was five years old. Basically I was addicted to the songs a lot in my childhood days. Usually I used to do the humming for each and every song. By watching my interests and passion towards music. My parents initiated to search for a music teacher and I started to attend the classes without fail, no matter, what the distance is. That's how the interest developed.
What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?
My parents & my husband are the only motivation to choose teaching profession. Since I got married, as usual I took a step back from music to look after my family. Still my parents nor my husband never stopped motivating me. Since I wasn't able to spend time on programs or competitions after my marriage, they asked me to start the teaching, which will be useful to students, as well as myself.
How does your work help society?
When parents or guardians elect to bring children/toddler music class, I would appreciate or love to take those classes with full interest. Because, my starting by making them understand about music life will be their future by choosing the second language with an instrument for their easier access. Thus, they decide to go into the music profession. Hence I believe, this way, my work helps society.
If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?
Guru Sri. Somashekar and Guru Sri. Sree kumar are my role models. These 2 personalities are my Pillars. They taught me how to be a professional teacher. Their dedication and patience shown towards their students, moulded myself in the same gesture. My two masters had given me training by asking me to take class for the beginners after my class session, and I have also been trained, how to be patience with the new students. Since after that I have decided to teach some students, whereas I have not stopped giving life to music yet.
Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.
My music career has allowed me to have such a flexible schedule with my hobbies. Apart from my teaching, Singing, Dancing, Baking & Cooking, art and craft works are my hobbies. My main hobby is to keep on fighting with my husband.
Do you have an anecdote to tell us about your student or professional life?
When I was in Saudi Arabia, I used to participate in all events conducted on every weekends. At one occasion, Got a chance to sing infront of Music director Sri.Radhakrishnan where he was the guest of that program. With all blessings Radhakrishnan sir asked me to do his upcoming 2 devotional albums. As a victory, I have been awarded for those two albums, which has been released at Guruvayoor melpathur auditorium (Cochin-Kerala). Late Sri.Dakshina Murthy Swamy (Guru of Legend Yesudas) and Sri.Surya Krishnamurthy(Founder & director of the Soorya Stage and film Society) are the personalities who have awarded me the memento. That was the very exciting and memorable moment of my life.
