About Natalie

Using knowledge and tricks from my background in psychology and working with primary school children in a multilingual and neurodiverse setting, I aim to: make learning a new language feel easy and fun, or support you developing and expanding your German language skills. No matter your age or the level you're coming to me with, together we can build your German language confidence and skills.

If you speak Danish, Swedish, French or Sepedi, I can easily switch between these languages and English/German to help you build faster connections between words, grammar and pronunciation.

In 2012-2013, I privately tutored German and English at a French girl's school to girls ages 7-18.

In 2017 - 2019, I tutored adults in English and worked in a low-income primary school. Not only did the English literacy level improve, but 7 of my students from different classes received scholarships to attend private boarding schools.
Two of the adults I worked with submitted a grant for funding last year, all in English and on their own, and have started building their community support centre and perma-garden with it to generate income and food for the community.

From 2022 - Now, I have been offering private tutoring and occasional group language classes in English, German, Danish and Swedish for children, adults, travellers, business people, and knowledge hungry curious minds.

Offering lessons from the foundations of German to mid-level, developing German business proficiency, preparing you for your GCSEs or A levels, or maintaining your child's German language skills. Some examples are: learning to read, confidence to speak in English, challenging creative writing, debating or reading comprehension.

Please feel free to request what you need and suggest a lesson length that suits you or your child.
I have worked with people aged 5 - 73 from different backgrounds, abilities and cultures.

About the lesson

Goals:
- German speaking and comprehension proficiency maintenance for you or your child should you have moved or be moving.
- Business proficiency development.
- GCSE or A level preparation and confidence building.
- Language development and/or growth: learning to read, learning new words and building sentence, improving confidence in speaking, challenging creative writing, debating, and reading comprehension.

Teaching methods:
The success to learn anything requires the lessons and materials to suit your or your child's needs and abilities.
I teach through first understanding your needs and how you work best and then the lessons and tools specifically for you using: worksheets, conversation work, classroom tested challenges and games, songs, brain breaks, and scenario tests.

Level: Beginner - mid-level students.

Lesson length: 45 minutes - 2 hours

Experience:
From 2017 - 2019 I also tutored English to adults who were new to the language or who wanted to practice/be challenged
From 2017 - 2019 I ran after school classes for children who wanted extra support or wanted more challenging work.
From 2017 - 2019 I worked in an underfunded multilingual primary school (ages 6-19, Grades 4-7, classroom size 71-104) as an English, Life Skills and Science teacher.
From 2012 - 2013 I tutored 2 French children (ages 7 & 15) in English and German.
I have worked with people aged 5 - 73 from different backgrounds, abilities and cultures.
